Public beta of Windows 7 will be available today
Today will be the day that Microsoft is scheduled to release the official public beta of Windows 7, its next desktop operating system. Windows 7 has generally received good reviews, and Microsoft says it is now "feature complete." In addition, Windows 7 will be a leaner operating system compared to Windows Vista. The minimum recommended hardware for the beta includes a 1GHz processor and 1GB of system memory.
Recommendations are subject to change though, and detractors will quickly point out that Windows Vista didn't run that well on its specifications of 1GB memory. Among other things, the new operating system will sport an updated interface, including a redesigned task bar. In addition, the much derided User Account Control feature has also been reworked.
