Patch Tuesday: Two's company

Given the rather meaty Patch Tuesdays that we've seen so far this year, it comes as a surprise that November has spawned only two fixes from the Redmond gang. Only one of the two has been rated as "critical" and is widely believed to patch a vulnerability in Macrovision's SECDRV.SYS DRM driver that affects Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 systems. According to Microsoft, hackers have exploited this vulnerability in order to gain elevated privileges on affected machines. The second patch, which has been rated "Important," is believed to address a spoofing bug that has been known for some time and that was originally scheduled to be included with October's batch of patches.
