Paralells Desktop 3.0 to support 3D PC gaming
It's no secret that we here at DailyTechRag think that Paralells Desktop is a pretty spiffy piece of software. Being able to dual or even triple-boot Windows, Linux and OS X on your Intel Mac was cool enough; being able to run different operating systems side-by-side using Parallels is like a geek fantasy come true. Still, there were a few compelling justifications left for dual-booting: namely 3D gaming, which required that you run Windows natively. Version 3.0 of Paralells Desktop (the final release candidate is currently in development), however, will change all that. The new version of Parallels will offer full OpenGL and DirectX support, allowing Mac gamers to fire up 3D PC games without a reboot. Another cool feature in 3.0 is "SmartSelect," which will allow you to select whether to open a file with a Windows app or a Mac app, from within the OS X finder.
