Palm OS to become Garnet OS
In the face of increased competition from Windows Mobile, Linux-based mobile platforms and even OS X Mobile (or whatever the heck they're going to call it), the mighty Palm OS has been dealt another blow. Palm OS developers ACCESS have announced that the platform will be re-branded as "Garnet OS," and that "ACCESS Powered" logos will start appearing on products that run the mobile operating system (was "ACCESS Inside" deemed too tacky?). Some see this as a move away from Palm--I mean, Garnet OS, and toward the company's upcoming Linux-based platform. It's not like Palm hasn't been cheating on ACCESS as of late, though; ACCESS is probably just trying to spurn Palm before they have a chance of being hurt.
