Oracle wants to rein in database admins

To balance the power of database administrators, Oracle is releasing new software called Database Vault. The software lets companies limit DBA access rather than giving them free reign to make changes, which should help with regulatory compliance issues and everyday security matters. Oracle also announced software called Secure Backup, which performs data encryption on information stored on removable media such as tapes and optical disks.
