Oracle readies 46 patches for server, DB software
Often characterized as one of the worst--if not the worst--software vendors when it comes to security, Oracle has a lot of work to do if it is to win the battle against vulnerabilities. In contrast to Microsoft's monthly Patch Tuesday, Oracle releases a torrent of patches every quarter, a practice widely criticized in the industry. Regardless, the database and server developer is pressing on with its quarterly initiative; the company will release patches for a total of 46 vulnerabilities next Tuesday, July 17. The fixes will include patches for potentially serious flaws in Oracle Database, Oracle Application Server, Oracle Collaboration Suite, Oracle E-Business Suite and Applications, and Oracle PeopleSoft Enterprise. For those of you keeping tabs at home, this brings the year's total to 133 Oracle patches.
