Opera 10.60 is out and is faster than ever
Version 10.60 of the Opera web browser was released late last week. According Opera Software, the new version comes with a number of new features, has better stability, and is 50 percent faster than the Opera 10.50 in "key benchmark tests." One reason for the seemingly obsessive focus on JavaScript performance with practically every new browser release is its importance on JavaScript heavy sites such as Facebook and Gmail.
Opera 10.60 also comes with improved support for HTML5, and packs an improved design that promises to make day-to-day use faster and easier. In addition, Opera 10.60 is also the first to come with built-in video playback capability for the Google-sponsored open WebM format. WebM uses the free VP8 video codec and is also supported by Mozilla and Adobe. Opera 10.60 is available for Windows, Mac OS X and Unix operating systems and can be downloaded here.
