Opera 10.5 will offer significant performance boost
A new pre-alpha developer build of Opera 10.5 was released a couple of weeks back, and it has quickly garnered the honor of being the first browser not using Webkit to achieve the JavaScript performance of competitors such as Google Chrome and Apple Safari. The improved performance is courtesy of the new Carakan JavaScript engine, a native code generator.
JavaScript performance aside, Opera 10.5 also comes with improved graphics performance, and much better CSS3 support, among other features. On Windows 7 for example, support for Aero Peek and Jump List means that users can easily access various parts of Opera directly from the Taskbar. And yes, "private" browsing via a tab or window has also been added.
Opera 10.5 is available in Windows, Mac OS X, and Unix/Linux, and can be downloaded from Opera Labs here. Be aware that this is a pre-alpha release, and has several known issues such as high memory usage.
