OpenOffice.org delays version 2.0
October 12, 2005 — 7:01pm ET
The final version of OpenOffice 2.0, scheduled to ship today, is being delayed up to a month because of a significant bug discovery. There will instead be a new test version shipping soon, officials said. The bug affects how document graphics appear when saved, and there are minor bugs relating to the user interface. The 2.0 suite is important for its support of XML-based OpenDocument standards, which open-source advocates hope to get Microsoft to adopt.
