Office 2007 vs. OpenOffice: which performs better?

When comparing office productivity suites, it's customary to compare the features, format support and price. But what about performance? After all, most enterprises aren't running the latest and greatest in terms of hardware and taxing software can seriously slow things down--sapping system resources along with productivity. ZDnet's infamous George Ou decided to put two office suites to the test, pitting Microsoft's Office 2007 against OpenOffice.org 2.2 in a battle that's all about performance. The results of the test may surprise you but know that there's a clear winner in the end: Ou calls one of the suites "a resource pig."
