Graphics chip maker Nvidia has licensed its SLI (Scalable Link Interface) technology to Intel and a number of PC makers which will allow them to build motherboards for Intel's Core i7 and i5 processors incorporating SLI technology.

According to Nvidia spokesman Bryan Del Rizzo, the timing of the deal is significant due to the fact that Intel signed on to license the technology before it rolls out new chips. This represents a departure from how SLI licensing has worked out in the past. Specifics aside, this announcement will certainly excite gamers looking forward to running the latest SLI-based graphics cards on their i7 or i5 rigs in the next few months.
