Notion Ink starts taking pre-orders for Adam Tablet debut
Notion Ink started taking pre-orders for its 10.1-inch Android-based Adam Tablet last Friday, even as some observers are raising question about the company's viability and whether the product is vaporware. The tablet is based on some rather impressive specifications, such as a dual-core Cortex A9 processor and NVIDIA's Tegra 2 graphics processor. Built-in 8GB of flash storage, a microSD slot, as well as three USB slots (2x full-size USB port and 1x mini-USB), HDMI, and a swiveling 3.2 megapixel camera rounds out its features.
There are some however, who questioned the fact that there are no pictures of the finished product. In addition, the tablet won't ship until January at the earliest, with no firm dates given despite the commencement of the pre-order. Various fees ($50 for shipping, for example) are also cited as cause for suspicion. In the company's defense, it says that it wants to build more buzz around the product's debut at CES, which is the reason why it has held off on more photos and videos. While it was only recently that I was introduced to this new tablet, I must say that while $50 shipping looks high, it is probably just adequate to cover standard FedEx rates from India to the United States.
