New Word/Windows zero-day attack spotted in the wild
January 25, 2007 — 8:01pm ET
It isn't easy being Microsoft, folks. The company still has yet to patch three zero-day flaws in just about every version of Word and what do the hackers go and do but release a new one? The latest bug leaves the following operating systems open to a code execution attack: Windows 2000, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT, Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP. So yeah, basically everyone. As with the previous flaws, the attack is executed using a word document attached to an email, so make sure that your users are aware. Microsoft has yet to offer a bulletin or workaround but come on folks, cut the little guy some slack.
