New Palm OS Treo almost ready for takeoff
May 10, 2006 — 7:01pm ET
Palm next week is expected to announce the Treo 700P smartphone, which will use the Palm operating system. The current Palm OS model is the two-year-old Treo 650, but its networking speed is slow compared to the EV-DO speed of the Windows-based Treo 700W model. It's not yet clear whether Sprint or Verizon will have the phone first, but all signs point to late-May availability.
