New Gmail outage rattles 'small subset' of users
Just when you thought we were all done with the endless arguments pertaining to the reliability of the cloud, Google Gmail has to suffer another outage. Fortunately, the downtime this time was limited to a "small subset of users." Of course, we're taking Google's word for it, not withstanding the fact that the word "small" can mean something quite different to an Internet juggernaut the size of Google.
Anyway, this latest outage started at 7:29 am PDT yesterday, though many users reported email was back to normal by 9:15 am. Some issues with contacts lingered for a while, though an all-clear was posted at 10.10 am.
Regarding the incident, Google wrote: "The problem with Google Mail should be resolved. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and continued support."
