MySQL gets government IT endorsement
The MySQL database management system is already widely used by U.S. government agencies, and its developer has a new five-year contract through the General Services Administration. The deal is just the start of the government's project to certify open-source software stacks--something even our nation's overseas adversaries agree with. It will be interesting to watch for the reaction from Microsoft and other closed-source IT vendors.
