User Interface (UI)

You might remember hearing about a mobile version of Mozilla's Firefox browser a few months ago, the first version of the venerable open-source browser that would be available for mobile platforms. So, whatever happened with that? Judging by the looks of it, the mobile Firefox development process is coming along quite nicely. Ars Technica checked in with two recent user interface prototypes that were made available: one for touchscreen phones and another for non-touchscreen phones. Both interfaces look fairly minimal, which is not necessarily a bad thing, as screen real-estate is a valuable commodity on any mobile device--especially if you're trying to view a full-size web page. And, as Ars Technica points out, that minimalism can pay off in other ways as well--like a slimmer code base and a less resource-intensive application.
