Microsoft Word exploit unpatched
The good news about this month's Microsoft security patches is that they total just three. The bad news is that they don't include a patch for the ongoing Word exploit. What's new is a critical patch for Office focusing on the Publisher software as well as less serious patches for bugs in Windows' data exchange and indexing service. As for the Word issue--there just wasn't enough time between discovery and the planned patch day to fix it. Next month is too long to wait, so an out-of-cycle patch is now a strong possibility.
