Microsoft: Vista SP1 not coming 'anytime soon'
We've been hearing a lot of rumblings about Windows Vista Service Pack 1 as of late, most of which have been coming from the general direction of ZDnet columnist Mary Jo Foley. Earlier this week, Foley even claimed an SP1 beta would make its way to Windows boxes by the end of this week. So, um, where is it? Well, we've now got the official word from Microsoft and it's not encouraging. In a public blog entry made at the company's urging, Microsoft revealed that while a SP1 beta will be released to a select group of testers "sometime" this year, a public beta would not be seen "anytime soon." Now, you're welcome to interpret that cryptic statement any way you want but at the very least, we finally have confirmation that SP1 is coming. At some point. Sort of.
