Windows Vista may still be several months away from release, but that hasn't stopped Microsoft from patching it. Of the 12 patches released last week, two affect Vista, officials said. The patches are MS06-042 and MS06-051 which cover eight flaws in Internet Explorer along with one flaw in the Windows kernel. Microsoft security officials wouldn't say why they waited so long to reveal that Vista is affected too. But it does makes us wonder which other betas might have issues--perhaps the visual development tools, Office, Vista-era servers or Windows Live?
