Microsoft to skip Vista Beta 2

Microsoft won't release an overall Beta 2 version of Windows Vista, they said. Instead, they'll continue releasing "community technology previews," which are targeted development builds, although the next two CTPs will carry the beta tag to emphasize their significance over other CTPs. Those are due in February and in the second quarter. Longhorn Server, not yet also called Vista, will still have normal betas. Those are due in the second quarter and second half of this year.
