Microsoft sells 1M Zunes, confirms new Zune this year

The Microsoft Zune might be the butt of many a tech joke (published in DailyTechRag or otherwise) but that hasn't stopped the boys and girls of Microsoft from selling a million of the little buggers. During the company's Q2 earnings call, Microsoft revealed that 1.2 million Zunes have been sold, exceeding the company's goals.
In other Zune newz, Microsoft told Whizbyte a new model of Zune will be available "later this year prior to the holiday season." While the company didn't unveil any specific details about the device, they suggested that "new sizes, styles and price points" could be expected, with "building in support for video [and] podcasting" and expanding "the wireless feature [and] the FM tuner" also being possibilities. This doesn't really come as much of a surprise, considering that rumors of new Zune models have been floating around for a while now. With new iPod models almost guaranteed within the next six months, Microsoft is going to have its work cut out for it, if it hopes to carve out a niche in the DAP market.
