Microsoft's 'Blue Hat' summit reveals another side

Microsoft recently and quietly held a high-level internal security conference and invited several hackers to participate. Dubbed "Blue Hat," the event involved real-time attacks by "security researchers" -- crackers gone good -- on current and future products and while standing side-by-side with Microsoft's own security engineers. Microsoft attendees included everyone from Jim Allchin, group vice president in charge of Windows, to rank-and-file programmers. Despite tension in the meetings, Microsoft officials said it was valuable and they plan to do it again. Was it valuable for the hackers, too?
