One thing is for sure, Vista SP2 is a fairly significant upgrade, and it includes numerous changes to the Vista operating system. So unless you are hanging on for Windows 7, Vista SP2 might be your best bet. Note that Windows Vista SP2 requires the prior installation of Vista SP1.

Shut-down times? What about start-up times? It takes my Vista Toshiba Satellite laptop a full 15 minutes to boot, and yes, I've timed it. And yes, I've deleted, delayed and pared down everything I can so that only the most important things start on boot-up. But still...fifteen minutes. I hate Vista. Sucks to be stuck with it, and no, I don't have any extra money to 'downgrade to XP,' which no one is offering for free.

Instead of spending time fixing shutdown, when you're finished using the computer anyway, fix the daggoned boot-up time so I don't have to sit there twiddling my thumbs every time I restart the computer!

On my older AMD64 3000+ with 2GB Ram, Vista starts up significantly faster than XP with the same applications loading. I wonder if there is something else wrong with your system? Perhaps a defective hard drive, or not enough RAM?

I think its awesome totally awesome
