Microsoft Patch Tuesday April 2010 fixes five critical vulnerabilities
Microsoft has released a total of 11 security bulletins addressing 25 security vulnerabilities for this month's Patch Tuesday, which will take place on April 13. In this round, five of the bulletins were rated as "critical" and are related to components within the Windows operating system--all of which were given the designation through a remote code execution impact.
Another five security bulletins are rated as important and affect Microsoft Office, Microsoft Exchange and Windows components. An important point for system administrators to note is the fact that most of the patches require a reboot after installation, which will have to be taken into consideration for patching of servers.
In an email to FierceCIO:TechWatch, security solutions provider Qualys was cautiously optimistic, nothing that: "On the positive side, we see that new operating systems like Windows 7 have less critical updates to install as compared to older operating systems."
