Microsoft, partners debut data protection suite

Microsoft is finally shipping its System Center Data Protection Manager software, which gives Windows native support for disk-based backup and continuous backup systems. CommVault, EqualLogic, Hewlett-Packard, and NSI all are supporting CDP in their storage products. Typical of Microsoft, there's already a major upgrade (codename unknown) due in 18 to 24 months, to support Exchange, SANs, etc.
