This one comes as no surprise but it's still a drag for Mac-based enterprises who might have been hoping for a Universal Binary version of Microsoft Office sometime this century: Microsoft has announced the Office 2008 suite for the Mac will be delayed until ... 2008. Curious naming conventions aside, the suite, which was originally slated for release sometime this year, will be released for manufacturing in December, with a mid-January 2008 retail date. While this is all straight from the mouth of Craig Eisler, General Manager of Microsoft's Mac Business Unit, I wouldn't be too surprised to see the suite get delayed again, given its development history. Good thing they decided to name it Office 2008, am I right folks?
