Microsoft, HP partner for HPCs
The world of High Performance Computing is starting to attract a lot of attention--from vendors as well as enterprise folks. Case in point: HP and Microsoft have announced a partnership whereby the two companies will package Microsoft's Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003 suite with HP's Unified Cluster Portfolio.
HP will offer support for Compute Cluster Server through its Unified Cluster Portfolio, which also includes hardware, software and services for HPC users.
While HP also stands to benefit, this mostly is a triumph for Microsoft: It now has an opportunity to make strides in the nascent HPC market--currently the domain of open-source software like Unix and Linux.
