Microsoft developing P2P app for file synching?

If recent rumors are to be believed, WinFS may not have marked the end of data synchronization for Microsoft. The latest buzz points to the company's SQL Server database unit where an end-to-end, peer-to-peer data synchronization platform going by the name of "Harmonica" is supposedly in development. According to ZDnet, "The ultimate goal is to have Harmonica provide the multimaster mesh underlying everything from the Zune MP3 player, to Microsoft's small-business services." Using the Harmonica platform, users would be able to sync photos, email, documents, music and video across applications and machines. Microsoft would also provide third-party developers with a toolkit, which would theoretically allow Harmonica to work on even non-Windows platforms. Too good to be true? Only time will tell whether Harmonica is vaporware or not.
