Microsoft confirms Excel attack

On Friday, Microsoft confirmed that a new attack has been found in the wild that takes advantage of a flaw in the company's Excel spreadsheet application. The flaw effects users of Microsoft Office 2000, Microsoft Office XP, Microsoft Office 2003, and Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac and may extend to other Office programs as well. Very little information is available about the attacks and Microsoft has yet to offer either a patch or workaround.
