DesktopStandard, a developer of group Policy-based enterprise desktop management products, has announced that it has been acquired by Microsoft. The company will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Microsoft, while its products are transitioned to the Microsoft brand. DesktopStandard's popular solutions GPOVault, ProfileMaker, PolicyMaker and Share Manager will continue to be available directly from the company and it's partners, for the time being. "Joining with Microsoft will allow DesktopStandard to more quickly meet our goal of helping customers extend Group Policy to handle the majority of their distributed management tasks and to provide a more manageable environment for doing so," said DesktopStandard's CTO and co-founder Eric Voskuil. The financial terms of the deal were not released.
