Metric: Server revenues grow slightly in Q2
The world bought $12.15 billion of servers in the second quarter of 2005, about 5 percent more than last year, Gartner says. The details were predictable: IBM led with $3.7 billion in sales, followed by Hewlett-Packard at $3.53 billion, Sun Microsystems at $1.45 billion, and Dell at $1.34 billion. Notably, Sun declined in RISC-based servers, while HP did better in that category. IBM led in blade servers, a market which grew from $281 million a year ago to $482 million.
