McAfee patch bug worse than realized

McAfee's software update last weekend mistakenly flagged Microsoft Excel as a virus, and a counter-patch was promptly released; but now it seems the original patch affected a wide variety of other applications as well. Programs from Adaptec, Google, Oracle and Sun Microsystems were also flagged. McAfee is now revamping its testing process, embarrassed officials said.
