McAfee breaks Lotus Notes

When it comes to IT security, you're one of the good guys. You take every security bulletin seriously, your users are well-educated on the latest email threats and you upgrade your company's virus software like clockwork. Wait, stop! It turns out that the latest version of McAfee's Virus Scan Enterprise, version 8.5i, is causing some headaches for users of IBM's popular Lotus Notes email client. When used in conjunction with either Lotus Notes R6 or R7, a bug in the anti-viral software (oh, the irony!) can cause Notes to lock up. McAfee is currently recommending that users disable two features in Virus Scan, "scan all server databases" and "scan server mailboxes," as a workaround. Of course, doing this leaves your network vulnerable, so you might want to figure out an alternate solution.
