Open-Source

This year's LinuxWorld event is perhaps the busiest ever. The most significant news affecting all Linux customers and sellers came from the Open Source Development Lab. Officials said they're working to centralize all open-source licenses, patents, and vendor indemnification program details into a single online database, called the Patent Commons project. Also, the General Public License version 3 will probably be ready for public comments early next year and completed by early 2007, backers say, replacing the current version launched in 1991.
