Linux, Unix players bolster security

Red Hat and Novell both announced new Linux security measures this week. Red Hat said its enterprise distribution now has CAPP/EAL 4+ certification, reached in partnership with IBM, and that smart card authentication support is forthcoming. Novell announced software called Audit2, which also had IBM's help in becoming certified for compliance for its Suse distribution. Also, earlier in the week, Sun Microsystems announced security upgrades for Java and Solaris.
