Lenovo to recall over 200,000 laptop batteries
Just when you thought that it was safe to assume that the exploding battery fiasco was finally behind us, Lenovo has to go and throw it's hat in the ring. Due to reports of "batteries overheating and damaging [laptops]," the Chinese manufacturer is recalling around 100,000 batteries in the U.S. and 105,000 more overseas. The batteries in question were sold between November 2005 and February 2007 for use in a variety of Lenovo laptops and in a surprising twist, were manufactured not by Sony but by sound-alike Japanese vendor Sanyo. Look for 9-cell batteries with part number FRU P/N 92P1131, which were designated for use in the following machines: the R60, R60e, T60, T60p, Z60m, Z61e, Z61m and Z61p.
