Lenovo gets down to business with new ThinkPads
Not too long ago, we reported on the Lenovo ThinkPad T61 and R61, the company's new, Santa Rosa-based 14-inchers. We now have some more info straight from the source that has us even more excited about the latest generation of Lenovo lappies than we were before. Instead of just throwing the Santa Rosa in there and updating the model number, Lenovo has re-engineered these machines from the ground up. These ThinkPads now sport magnesium roll cages that make for a more durable lid, increased resistance against impacts and twice the reception power for the wireless radios. They also sport improved thermal management software, better cooling hardware and Intel Turbo Memory. Both ThinkPads feature HDD hardware encryption, 802.11n and WLAN support (Cingular's HSDPA or Verizon's EVDO) and can be configured to sport pre-installed webcams, Blu-ray players and card readers. The ThinkPad has long been regarded as the ultimate laptop for business and according to Gizmodo, these two are "the fastest, toughest, quietest Thinkpads ever."
