Lenovo to court geek market
When thinking of geek-friendly PC vendors, Lenovo probably isn't the first that comes to mind. While the Chinese vendor has long been known as a friend of the enterprise, they've never really been one to court the geek crowd. Looks that that could change, however: taking a page out of Dell's playbook, the company is looking to solicit geek opinions on the topic of--wait for it--Linux. In a post to the official Lenovo blog, Inside the Box, Lenovo analyst Matt Kohut admits that Lenovo has been "spending way too much time on the enterprise market and not enough on the enthusiast market." The solution? Offering a poll on which Linux distribution folks would most like to see offered on ThinkPads. Now before you get too excited, this isn't confirmation that Lenovo is going to start shipping all ThinkPad models with Linux on board, though it certainly suggests that the company is looking to move in that direction. If that sounds alright by you, head on over and cast your ballot--as you might expect, Ubuntu already has a considerable lead.
