Last week a tough one for memory makers
Amid declining revenues, last week appeared to be a pretty bleak one for memory makers, based on some of the news that has filtered in.
Micro Technology and Spansion announced layoffs of up to 2,000 and about 3,000 respectively. As the CEO of Spansion cautioned that a sale of the company could be in the works, another chip maker, Qimonda, said that it was seeking Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection for its United States unit. Even Intel is considering leaving the flash memory manufacturing business.
