Judge bars Vonage from signing up new customers
Boy, Verizon is really letting poor Vonage have it. Soon after granting a patent-infringement injunction against the VoIP provider, a U.S. District Judge has imposed an immediate stay on Vonage's business. What does that mean? Well, it essentially means that Vonage is not allowed to sign up any new customers, though the vagaries of our legal system should keep this decision at bay for the time being. A stay on the stay has been granted, at least until Vonage's appeal against the original stay and injunction can be heard. What does this all mean? If you've been dying to sign your small business up for Vonage service, make haste! If you're an existing Vonage customer, well, start formulating your backup plan now.
