If you haven't deployed them yet in your enterprise, chances are your users are begging for them: that's right, BlackBerrys. But is the BlackBerry really a secure enough platform for storing secure business information? We've all heard the horror stories about how lost, stolen and re-sold smartphones can yield valuable information to enterprising criminals. The latest news, however, suggests mobile devices, specifically the popular BlackBerry, might be vulnerable in a more traditional way.

In a whitepaper published on Symantec's website--and later pulled, for unknown reasons--a security researcher discussed a number of the BlackBerry's security weaknesses, painting a picture of a device that's anything but secure. Among the shocking revelations: an API developer key that's widely available online for $100--opening the device to a wide range of attacks.
