IPv6 has security issues that sysadmins need to start thinking about, expert Van Hauser said at the Hack In The Box conference this week. Companies that aren't using IPv6 networks still need to realize that modern versions of Unix and Windows Vista do support it, so that alone can create some issues. For example, IPv6 shares IPv4's vulnerability to packet monitoring attacks, and even the use of IPSec will not solve all problems. IPv6 will arrive sooner than people realize, he added.
