iPhone getting TomTom GPS module?

Ask just about any Apple fan what features they'd most like to see in the next version of the iPhone and "GPS" will probably be somewhere near the top of the list. That's not surprising if you've ever seen GPS software running on a sweet touchscreen phone like the HTC Touch or Tilt--not only is it a nice feature to have but it eliminates the need for carrying around a separate GPS unit. Well, if the latest rumor has any truth to it, GPS functionality might soon be coming to the iPhone--by way of a GPS hardware add-on. A Danish tipster sent Engadget a blurry cameraphone shot of an iPhone running TomTom GPS software, courtesy of a small device plugged into the dock port. Could such a device really be in the works? It's certainly possible, especially considering that Apple is "opening up" the iPhone come February. A GPS module would definitely be a popular add-on and would only increase the iPhone's attractiveness to consumers. Just don't charge extra for GPS service if you want it to be a hit, okay boys?
