iPhone gets Skype; iPhone Nano? Not so fast...

Yesterday, we reported on a rumor Apple would launch an iPhone Nano later this year. As we noted yesterday, the rumor's timeframe ("in the fourth quarter") seemed a bit dubious. Apparently, the originators of the rumor, the analysts at JP Morgan, agreed. They have appended their prediction to add that an iPhone Nano seems "unlikely in the near term." Now that's more like it.

Meanwhile, a little web-based application called SoonR Talk has been creeping around, quietly enabling Skype calling on the iPhone. The AJAX-app doesn't seem like the most intuitive way to make a VoIP call but it should tide you over until an official Skype client arrives.

Finally, the good folks at Ars Technica finally have released their iPhone review and it's well worth the wait. As you might expect, it's comprehensive and well-written but that's not the best part: Ars puts the iPhone through the full durability testing gamut and videotapes the entire process. So if you want to see a video of an iPhone in a washing machine, you now know where to go.
