Intel to embed 3G into laptops
Intel is working with the GSM Association to establish guidelines for SIM-ready laptops. So in addition to WiFi, laptops of the future will also have built-in 3G networking. A timeframe and specific laptop partners weren't announced; this year's holiday season is possible but a bet on 2007 would be a sure thing. Also, an issue with these laptops might be who pays for the wireless service. Will it come bundled or will users have their choice of carriers and plans?
