Intel offers security fixes for Centrino wireless chips
August 2, 2006 — 8:01pm ET
Intel quietly patched the driver software for its Centrino wireless chips to fix three vulnerabilities. The most serious glitch could allow an attacker to run remote code and take over a whole system, while the other two flaws could grant kernel-level access and sensitive data about memory sharing. (Ed. note: Intel timed the update to precede the present Black Hat conference, as well as Defcon which begins tomorrow.)
