Intel, Novell to virtualize Windows for Linux
February 12, 2007 — 8:01pm ET
Here's a bizarre love triangle for you: despite the fact that Microsoft and Novell already announced a partnership to allow Windows Server to run on SUSE Linux and vice versa, Novell and Intel have announced paravirtualized network and block device drivers that would accomplish the same task in Xen virtual environments. That's gotta sting. While these new drivers will only support Intel systems (duh) that support VT, they do offer support for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10, which will make more than a few admins happy. No word yet on what Microsoft thinks although it goes without saying that they're totally not happy about this.
