Intel loses round to AMD in chips

Intel cut the low end of its first quarter sales expectations to $8.7 billion from $9.1 billion, citing competition from rival chip maker Advanced Micro Devices. That's a sour note on which Intel begins its annual Developer Forum event this week. The event is expected to include Intel's biggest chip family upgrade since 2000 and heavy participation from Microsoft. Regardless, the revenue announcement is humbling for Intel. Will this continue in the next few quarters?
