Intel looks way beyond quad core systems
The modern commercial buzz focused on dual- and quad-core chips, but Intel has researchers working on 10-way and even 100-way units. The work is includes more than 80 projects collectively known as TeraScale, because of the terabytes of data and teraflops of computing power involved, officials explained. Issues like high-scale multithreading and energy efficiency are top priorities. But don't look for the multiway chips to be sold until late in the decade at the soonest.
